A custom 304 stainless grade (Ultimet 304) is utilized to produce this pump body, specifically developed to provide non-interconnected porosity, resulting in a leak proof component at extremely high pressures (tested to 6,000 psi)

  • Sintered density greater than 7.5 g/cm3.
  • This powder metal “blank” replaced a series of wrought components previously welded and brazed together
    • Reduction in complexity, going from four (4) to one (1) component
    • Reduction afforded by removing costs associated with assembly and much of the machining process
    • Scrap reductions given the relative simplicity of the blank pump body

A custom 316 stainless grade (Ultimet 16) is utilized to produce this upper and lower housing of a Gas Direct Inject Pump, specifically developed to provide non-interconnected porosity, resulting in a leak proof component at extremely high pressures

  • Sintered density greater than 7.5 g/cm3.
  • These housings were laser welded together, containing an electro-mechanical package integral to the fuel delivery
    • Both housings were machined complete in our automated facility
    • Powder metal presented the lowest cost alternative given the component geometry
    • The near full density of the material allows for leak tight brazing joints as well
